HELLO, I'M JON SHUSTER

My purpose is to enable leaders and teams to make the difference they intend in their organizations, communities, and lives.

My professional career combines corporate and business leadership positions in globally known companies, Big 4 (Accenture) and other organizational consulting experience, with an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management, undergraduate degree from Cornell University, and over 25 years working with leaders, teams, and organizations.

My approach blends the business focus that comes with P&L responsibilities, strategic insight based on individual and organizational needs, with creativity and flexibility to create an engaging, customized experience. I believe in the combined power of in-session discovery and learning by doing and practice.

As a student, I was inspired by the power of group behavior and the ability of individuals to change the outcome of obedience to authority and diffusion of group responsibility. Having grown up one generation after the Holocaust, a core part of my Jewish education and identity, I see the effect of group behavior and influence of leadership as powerful and timeless concepts that motivate my work as an executive coach.
 

During my 25+ years of executive and leadership coaching experience, I have worked with companies of all sizes from Google, Chevron, Charles Schwab, Blue Shield, and Home Depot, to small to midsize organizations, including Stripe and Impossible Foods, as well as academic medical institutions and non-profits. In my personal life, these interests have played out in other ways as well, including my years as a youth sports coach, involvement in my synagogue, and my participation in ICF (coaching federation) chapters in both San Diego and the Bay Area.

Meanwhile, I continue to find joy and comfort in the outdoors, particularly as a skier, open water swimmer, and hiker around the world. I named my business “The Carabiner Group” as a nod to my love of nature.
